TESC offers a free credit earning option called "Credit for prior teaching" which grants you credit for classes you teach at an RA college- but have never taken. In my case, my associates degree was from an NA college, but I teach at an RA college, so every class I teach was accepted by TESC for credit (they wouldn't give me credit for the classes I attended as a student because of the NA issue). So, I submitted over 100 credit hours for teaching credit, and they awarded me 27 (the max) thus filling my free elective requirement. EC and CO don't offer that option as far as I could tell, so that was a big selling point for me.
While I could have filled my free elective credits using FEMA (also free $) this was a way for me to get my NA credits onto an RA transcript- something that may or may not matter, but I jumped at the chance.
So you can get credit from TESC for teaching? How do you do this and where do I sign up? I'm in NYC. I am battling between picking COSC vs TESC and at first was with COSC, but now I'm really starting to lean toward TESC. The ONLY thing I wasn't crazy about is/was their name and that's because I live in NYC and our ONLY major utility company out here is called...drum roll, CON EDISON! I just didn't want my college degree to be associated with that, but outside of NYC I don't think anyone knows a thing about ConEdison and TESC. I hope that TESC, on my resume, just won't stand out and people start conversing about it etc. I don't want to talk about it, just interview me and give me an honest shot at the job lol.
