COSC Age Waiver?
#1
Has anyone received an age waiver from COSC or know if they will give a waiver?
I have a 15yr old that really wants to apply for fall and graduate with AA in December. She won't be 16 until next April. I emailed COSC, but they didn't quite answer my question about offering a waiver.
COSC said:

"Your daughter can take courses with us before turning sixteen but cannot enroll until she is sixteen. Keep in mind that she would not be eligible for financial aid until she matriculates as a degree seeking student and to be eligible for aid will need provide a high school diploma – that isn’t required for admission."

I thought about replying and explaining how she only needs the Cornerstone and one other course;no financial aid involved...just wondering about the age waiver. But, before I do and risk getting on their bad side for being pushy, I thought I'd ask the forum if anyone has had any experience.
Thanks for your input! Smile

I waited and applied as soon as I turned 16. It is unfortunate, but in my opinion it seems like they did answer your question: "Your daughter... cannot enroll until she is sixteen."
I don't know what the future holds, but I know Who holds the future.

If I were you, I would just continue taking classes and exams towards the BSBA, knowing that she can enroll and take the Cornerstone as soon as she turns 16. You should see the hoops you have to jump through around here just to get permission to take a CC course before they're 16.

Thanks! I didn't post my original question to COSC which was, "Do you have an age waiver?" The age is 21 for Thomas Edison, but they will waive that age minimum.
My older daughter got her AA from COSC at 17 but was already 16 when she enrolled. She also only needed the cornerstone and one other course. We were told NO for several things initially, but once she was a student, things were approved much more easily.
We might have to try Thomas Edison instead. We were leaning towards COSC because they still accept FEMA credits.

She really wanted her degree by December...we'll see!

Don't forget that at TESU, she will have to take the 1cr Cornerstone for $300, and pay the $2000 residency waiver. I think that's too much to pay for an AA, but maybe I'm just cheap. I really think they should have the fee be half of that for the AA. $1000 I could swallow.

I think that an AA at COSC is now $1,738, while the AA at TESU is $2,738 (that's a kooky coincidence, I had to add that twice). Not including courses, just the fees and the cornerstone.

That's a good point...thanks! I don't know many details about TESU since we used COSC for my older daughter. Smile

+1, continue forward towards a BSBA and the fees are just a tad more. For myself, I am doing the same, ASBA then BSBA but will graduate at the same time to pay one residency waiver and one graduation fee at TESU. The ASBA practically is free... I'd do the same for COSC, wait for the BA or BS and the fees are just a tad more...
