Hello all,
Longtime lurker here, at least a couple years. I was hoping you legends of CBE might render an opinion on my degree plan. Like all, I'm attempting to find the cheapest/easiest combination of tests and courses. I know I need to take 7 TECEPs + the capstone for 24sh TESU residency requirement, so I've attempted to build that in to the plan. Obviously it'd be best if the capstone were the only TESU course I had to pay for.
I've been trying to determine if there are extra costs or credit requirements to receiving my AA with my BA simultaneously? TESC states it is possible, but not necessarily whether there's any downside to waiting until I've satisfied all BA requirements to graduate with AA and BA. To clarify, I am not currently enrolled.
Currently I'm looking for a course/exam to fulfill:
Non-Western/Non-US History – Africa, Asia, Latin America, Middle East (3)
[TESC HIS-310 The Middle East if can't find an equivalency they accept]
Historical Methods/Historiography (3)
[Would TESC SOS-492 work if can't find another? What about any "research methods" CBE? Anyone tried anything, or anything similar, or have a guess?]
Below I've listed my completed credits (most were quarter hours, and I believe I converted them to semester hours properly) and placed them in TESC's general education requirements fields. Does that seem right? Thanks so much for your attention and input.
Written Communication (6)
CC ENGL 101, 102, 125 (6)
Oral Communication (3)
DSST Principles of Public Speaking (3)
Quantitative Literacy (3)
TECEP Applied Liberal Arts Mathematics (3)
Information Literacy (3)
CLEP Analyzing and Interpreting Literature (3)
Diversity (3)
TECEP World History from 1600 to Present (3)
Ethics (3)
TECEP Environmental Ethics (1)
ACENET Ethics … CPCU (2)
Knowledge of Human Cultures (12)
CC HIST 131, ECON 101, PRLE 101 (7.3)
TECEP Abnormal Psychology (3)
CLEP Analyzing and Interpreting Literature (3)
Understanding the Physical and Natural World (4-7)
SAYLOR PHYS 102 (3)
TECEP The Science of Nutrition (3)
General Electives (17-20)
CC PE 129, 135, THEA 105, 150, TUTR 185, 186 (7.7)
CC MGMT 106, 126 (4.6)
TECEP Introduction to Critical Reasoning (3)
TECEP Environmental Ethics (2)
The only cost-saving measure I can foresee is finding cheaper CBEs than CLEP/DSST, and finding non-TESC course credit for the Historiography and Non-Western requirements...
