2nd BA Degree in Accounting at TESU - Clarification Question
#21
While I was on the phone with the TESU rep this morning, I asked him about the 2nd BA for Accounting/CPA track.

He said that besides the capstone, there will probably be about 16 credits of the AOS courses that I most likely wouldn’t be able to take elsewhere besides TESU. I asked him if that was due to the classes being Upper level, and he didn’t really have an answer.

Thoughts?

They never tell you where else you can earn the credits needed.  The BSBA in Accounting can be tested out through non-TESU courses; the BSBA in Accounting/CPA path cannot be completed all by testing out (I say 'path', as it is the same degree just with more specific requirements and direct course options in getting to where you need in order to take the CPA exam in NJ - don't confuse being able to sit for the exam with being ready to pass it). When you graduate with either one you're an Accountant - the non-CPA version just means you're not ready and able  at graduation to sit for the CPA exam (yet).

I'm pretty sure with the current Study.com options you can use them for all the Accounting courses, you used to be able to use SL but with the recent downgrade on many of their courses from UL to LL it may not be an option anymore.  I'm sure some others will give you some guidance on the Accounting AOS options.

Being that your BA (1st degree) is from a school other than TESU, you really need to apply and get an official evaluation to know what you're missing.  I would recommend you apply for the standard BSBA in Accounting, you can run the "evaluation tool" they offer to see what you're CPA path requirements would be. They can evaluate you for both options, then decide which.   In my opinion it is critical to know officially what you're missing to make a successful and working plan; especially for a second degree.
