3 New Ace Courses Coming to Sophia

Right.  I've no idea if they will, but I was wondering the same thing.  If all you have left to complete the course is a Touchstone, submitted but not yet graded, they might consider allowing an exception for you to take a "third" course.  This wasn't much of an issue when I was taking their courses, because, if I recall correctly, there were only four courses with Touchstones at the time.  But if the number of courses with Touchstones continues to increase, I can see it slowing things down considerably.

I don't see them lifting the "two courses at a time" rule anytime soon.  I suspect they're still stinging from when they offered the free promo and so many of us advised folks to "sign up for everything, and if you don't get to it, just ask for an extension".

In the meantime, if it were me, I would not hesitate to ask.  They have proven to be very flexible and they just might allow it, if line employees are empowered to do so.

Just dont forget, they make money on their courses. So its highly doubtful they will lift this policy. Its a new way to increase profits. I guess  if they continue to add assignment to new courses, it will be cheaper to take courses at SDC. Also it could be the case if Sophia adds proctoring , SDC will become very attractive option again for many students. ( considering they have bigger variety of courses). To add, since Sophia courses are LL and will have at least 1 or more written work, while all SDC LL course dont have written work. So it could make sense for most to use SDC again

Just noticed that Introductory Applied Math doesn't have a Credly badge yet. The Power of Persuasion does. As does Smarter Decisions Through Psychology.

Also just noticed that the newest History course (the one with the loooong name) doesn't have an ACE endorsement on Credly yet.

I wonder if these will transfer anywhere. The math course sounds similar to the foundations courses which almost no one accepts. It's also only 1 credit. Bummer.

I'm wondering what area The Power of Persuasion could come in as. Would it come in as an English elective or just a general elective? It's a 6-8 page paper. Yuck! Based on my experience in Eng Comp 2 I would never even consider taking this class. I really hope the grading improves for those papers. It was just awful last summer.

Last week Sophia opened a "third" course for me while I was waiting for 2 different courses to grade a final Touchstone (I asked and they said yes).  Hope that's encouraging news.

It maybe because you're waiting for the final Touchstone to be graded and that can take several days. Hopefully they will allow 3 open courses since they're adding so many Touchstones to classes now. I'm not a big fan of their Touchstones.

Right, I do believe it was because I had essentially completed both courses that they allowed me to start the third course.  It seemed like it might be “policy” because it was so quick and easy.  I thought I had my courses planned to spread the ones with Touchstones out so I wouldn’t get caught like this, but I did not realize that Intro to Greek Philosophers required a Touchstone until after I opened it.  It is an easy writing assignment (basically answering questions) but I had to wait for the grading.

That Touchstone is a recent addition. The course did not have a Touchstone until like a month or so ago. The grading is definitely something that can hold a student up.

I'm glad to see that they may make exceptions for the 2-course policy for people literally just waiting on touchstone grading. It makes sense.
