I'm from Brazil and this institution is advertising its MBA degrees for around 20 dollars. It is not a Master like American MBA's but something like a Graduate Certificate (we call it lato senso, which is a a graduate degree that doesn't require a dissertation/thesis). There are some other areas too. I don't know if there are hidden fees, but this is absurdly cheap, even here, where online education is usually way cheaper than in-person degrees.

Portuguese. If you know Spanish, you get 80% of it in writing, though.

Yes, Brazilian Portuguese vs Portuguese in Portugal... There are slight differences, I'd say it's similar to Quebec French vs French in France...

From their homepage FAQ (Google Translated): https://faculdadeimes.org.br/
What degrees does Faculdade IMES offer?
There are 6 courses: Administration (duration of 4 years) , Analysis and Systems Development (duration of 2 and a half years) , Accounting Sciences (duration of 4 years) , Pedagogy (duration of 4 years) , Management Processes (duration of 2 years) and Human Resources (duration of 2 years).
What is the difference between a Technological Degree, a Bachelor's Degree and a Degree?
Undergraduate Diplomas obtained in Higher Education Courses lasting 2 years or more - also called Technological Undergraduate Courses, as they train professionals to work in a specific area of knowledge - have the same validity as Diplomas obtained in Higher Education Courses lasting 4 years or more. more – also called Bachelor's Degree, when they train Liberal Professionals (Administrators, Accountants, Engineers, Doctors, Lawyers and other professions); or Degree, when they train Teachers (educational professionals who teach classes in Basic Education). Graduates holding one of these three Diplomas will be able to practice the profession and request registration with the Federal Council that represents the category, take part in competitions, enroll in Specialization, Master's and Doctorate Courses in related areas of knowledge.
What postgraduate courses does IMES College offer?
There are 59 courses in 5 different areas of knowledge: 19 in Education, 15 in Administration/Business, 7 in Technology, 17 in Law and 1 in Human Sciences.

You need 5.40 reais to buy one dollar. We use comma instead of dot, so 9,99 is like 9.99 in English. The price they advertise is 107.90 reais for a "pós-graduação", which means a degree you do after a bachelor (MBA's in Brazil are just brand names, they are not really Masters, with only one exception). So, that would be about 20 dollars. The 9,99 (or 9.99) is for those who want to pay during the course, in 12 installments. So, every month one would pay less than 2 dollars...

These ones are equivalent to Bachelors or associates (tecnological). I don't think anyone from outside the country would be able to do these degrees because it is usually required to have some in-person activities (exams). Only those "postgraduate courses" (the "MBA's") don't require in-person activities. Please don't read MBA's from Brazil as equivalent to an MBA from the US, because they are very different things. Brazilian MBA's are not Masters.

A real MBA from Brazil, and FREE, you can find here: https://www.coppead.ufrj.br/full-time-mba/ But it is in person and extremely competitive.

For our Portuguese speakers, have you found any information on the affiliations of this IMES Faculty (ie does it belong to a larger university)? As well, what kind of accreditation do these postgraduate diplomas have? Are they something official or more of a propio / professional development sort of qualification?

It doesn't belong to another university, it's more like a college. They have accreditation as an institution, you can check it here: https://emec.mec.gov.br/emec/consulta-ca...eb/MTg2Mzc=
However, this kind of degree doesn't have much oversight from the Ministry of Education, the only real requirement is that the institution is accredited, but, unlike other degrees, the Ministry doesn't audit its quality. This kind degree is called "especialização" or "pós-graduação" (or, unofficially, MBA), and the quality of it varies a lot.
I don't think this kind of degree is of much use for non-Brazilians, unless you want to learn and practice Portuguese or want something "international" on your resume.
