Can you obtain an A.A and A.S in business at the same time?

Yes you can get the Associates of Arts and the Associates of Science in Business Administration at the same time. Neither of those require an associates capstone, but they both have the same cornerstone, there's no if/or/buts about that... My recommendation however is, if you are going for a BALS or BSBA, to graduate at the same time (2 Associates along with your Bachelors) unless of course, you have paid for the 16 credits to remove the residency waiver fee, otherwise, if you can't graduate in a year of graduating the Associates, you'll need to pay a second residency waiver fee...

There's no reason to get both of those. The distinction is basically meaningless.

Hmm... It's personal preference, I would recommend getting the BALS or BSBA and having the associates added free.
And some people can't wait or may not be able to finish in time for the residency waiver to be used for the Bachelors.
If you really need some paper and may not finish the Bachelors, go for the Associates at COSC or Pierpont if you have RA credits.

Some would rather get a double associates rather than not getting anything at all...
I'm not here to stop you from your goals, just wanting you to not waste your energy/money and time on just the associates.

There's no reason to get both of those.  The distinction is basically meaningless.

I was thinking that an ASBA is more valuable than just an A.A.  However, if later on my son decides to finish his BSBA or some other Bachelor's degree, then an A.A. would be useful to avoid taking GE requirements. I am not sure if that is correct or not.   What are your thoughts?

The AA and the ASBA are literally the same degrees. The difference is that the AA has 18-20 credits of electives while the ASBA replaces most of those electives with business courses. Otherwise, they both have the exact same GE requirements. If you're set on 2 associate's degrees, an ASNSM math or computer science and an ASBA would probably be the most useful.

There is also no guarantee that getting an associate's degree will waive any future GE requirements. It might if you get the associate and the bachelor degrees at the same school but changing requirements over the years could mean that different GE courses might be needed in the future.

What's interesting is that today I got an email from ASU congratulating me for completing the Earned Admission track to be accepted into ASU. The email said that if I don't have an Associate's of Arts degree then I need to send my High School transcripts.
I'm almost certain that once I complete the Associates of Science in Business Administration from my local Community College they'll accept that. That Degree is from California and it's almost in line with ASU's and many universities from California.

Correct.  Most schools do not accept an AA or AS as a block transfer, they look at each individual course you take.  So, there is no difference between an AA or an AS except that an AA requires more humanities/social science courses, and an AS requires more Science/Math courses.

I would just get the AA from COSC, and take 12cr of RA from wherever you choose, and do a bunch of business courses for your electives.  Kills 2 birds with 1 stone, for a lot less money than TESU will cost.
