No, she's confused.

Soonersiren Wrote:I hope this is the case, Jennifer! I got a 5 on Eng Lit/Comp, a 4 on Eng Lang/Comp, a 4 on US Gov, a 3 on Comparative Gov, and a 3 on European History. Tulsa gave me 3 credits for everything but European History, which they didn't count at all.
Ignore my previous type-o, I can't edit it for some reason...
Okay, so your AP transcript is rockin!! You're going to get a lot.
European History is the equivalent to Western Civ 1&2, so I'd say with 75% certainty that you'll get 6 for that.
Govt classes are normally a 3 credits each, and you earned a 3 / 4 respectively, so I'm 100% certain you'll get 3 each, after Swaggy's eval we'll know if you'll get 6 each.
I don't know what you'll get for English. TESC isn't likely to give more credit for higher scores (unlike Tulsa) but I'm about 75% certain you'll get 6+6 on those.
Once Swaggy posts the results of his/her TESC evaluation, we can use that information to see how they're applying credit and why. We need that info to make a better guess.
My money says you'll get a minimum of 24 credits:
English Composition, 6
Literature, 6
Social Science, 12
It is POSSIBLE that you could get more. I think the best possible case you could hope for would be 30:
English Composition, 6
Literature, 6
Social Science, 18
Since all of these will be recorded as lower level 100/200 level, be sure you don't add any credit that might duplicate what you already have, you can't get credit for the same thing more than once. MANY of the popular CLEP exams duplicate your AP credit. Here's a quick list to get you through until your eval is done.
CLEP exams you should not take yet:
English composition
all Literatures (English, American, Analysing & Interpreting)
Government
US History 1 & 2
Western Civ 1 & 2

Thanks for the reply Jennifer! This is great info. I was trying to figure out which CLEP to start with, so your suggestions are very helpful.
I'm trying to plan a route for myself, while at the same time planning a route for my 16 year old son - and trying to figure out a way for us to work on as much as we can on the same tests. There are so many variables! It is getting overwhelming.
This message board and the people who are mentoring others through this process are such a blessing.
Oh, and I bought your book. It was helpful, as well

A former student took both AP English Language and Composition and AP English Literature and Composition, and got credit for ENC-101/102 six credits and LIT-121/122 six credits. However, this was several years ago, and another poster recently said that these two AP English exams were considered duplicate credit on his TESC evaluation. I guess it's not that bad since most schools only give 3 hours for each exam, but still....
BA, MA, EdS, MMT, etc.
83 hours of ACE-worthy credits

That's great, SwaggyP! I'm happy for you.
As of today, TESC has received my AP transcript. It's killing me to wait and see how they evaluate it. Hopefully, they won't take forever.

I know!! FOREVER!!!
So, I'm feeling pretty confident that you'll be looking at:
English Composition, 6 (English Comp)
Literature, 6 (English Lit)
Social Science, 12 (US Govt, European 1, European 2, Comp. Govt)
Now, for fun, would Swaggy like to challenge the Govt exam and try to get 6 credits instead of 3? It's seriously worth a try.... they'll probably say no, but I think you could craft a strong argument for 6 on each of your AP exams.

What would be the argument, is there another course that AP Gov could also fill?

Their catalog says "up to 6 credits" for scores "3 or better." If you scored higher than 3, I'd argue that's worth more than the minimum 3 credits. You probably won't get it, but I'd still argue for it. Point out that your other exam, American History, awarded 6 credits (not 3). See what they say. AP Tests
