Affordable Educational Institution
#1
Hi everyone,

I am reaching out to inquire if anyone has studied for a Masters degree at the Asian College of Teachers (https://www.asiancollegeofteachers.com/).

I am considering the Masters or Integrated Master’s and Professional Doctorate in Education program.

Any feedback regarding the Institution's administration department, the type of curriculum, and any other general points will be greatly appreciated.

Hmm...this is one I hadn't come across previously. The "professional doctorate" (Ed.D.?) program is potentially tempting for US$2750. https://www.asiancollegeofteachers.com/P...cation.php

The doctorates are the same price as the masters, and you can get into the doctorate program with a B.A. and "10 years of life experience" (presumably meaning you finished your undergrad 10 years ago), so there doesn't appear to be much benefit in getting the master or over the doctorate. Aside from it being less work, in theory.

If I'm reading that site correctly you don't receive the doctorate from Asian College of Teachers, rather it is issued by European International University-Paris. That school sounds...questionable based on this thread https://www.degreeforum.net/mybb/Thread-...University

They offer a demo course so you can get an idea of the quality of classes prior to enrolling. I haven't done it yet, but would definitely do it prior to enrolling. https://www.asiancollegeofteachers.com/demo-course.php

Speculatively speaking, this could be a buy low opportunity like ENEB prior to the recent price hikes and value reduction. Assuming the doctorate doesn't have some weird name that needs to be explained away (as in the degree they offer is actually called Professional Doctorate), and Validential is still giving RA-equivalence for it, the upside makes the $2750 play something to research in more depth.

This should be enough to give pause. If the degrees are actually granted be EIU, which is unrecognized in France, then of what value is this degree?

Sure. It's cheap. But do you want to spend three years of your life on a degree with little-to-no recognition?

Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe they have world-renowned specialists teaching there, but I have to confess, I'm skeptical.

--

To add to the confusion, there are a few lines on the doctorate page that read:

"Asian College of Teachers in collaboration with European International University, Paris offers Professional Doctorate programmes which are coursework based and are DIFFERENT from that offered by EIU-Paris PD, which is an Honorary Type Awards programme."

If the degrees aren't even the 'normal' (read: unrecognized) EIU degrees, then of what value would these "Honorary Type Awards" have?

From the thread I linked on EIU I was under the impression that Validential gives EIU degrees RA equivalency, which wouldn't work for all applications, but is significantly more than nothing. "Unrecognized" in France does not necessarily mean zero utility outside of France. ENEB degrees aren't "recognized" by the Spanish government but members here have used them to enter doctorate programs, get raises/promotions, etc.

You have the "honorary type award" backwards. This ACT professional doctorate issued by EIU-Paris is the course-based program. They recognized that EIU-Paris has an honorary degree with a similar name and are clarifying that they are not offering an honorary degree. For some reason they hid the requirements for this degree under eligibility.

For the time being, I wouldn't really look into the program unless you have a specific need for it that can't be found elsewhere within budget. It's similar to a mix/match type of offering they have (a practitioner/professional half & half), what really gets me is this: Dissertation (15,000 words research) - 90 ECTS

A Bachelors capstone course or even a Masters capstone would probably have more requirements of words than this dissertation. If you review a couple of threads/posts, I recall I mentioned EIU Practitioner's Doctorate is 5K Euro if you get the 75% off scholarship, and that degree requires a 50K word research paper.

From their website: https://www.teachertrainingasia.com/terms-of-use.php

"Asian College of Teachers is a private autonomous organisation and have no accreditation and connection with any Ministry of Education, Teachers Council or any other Governmental bodies. ACT is not a degree-granting institution and is not accredited by any Ministry or any other Government regulatory bodies anywhere."

This, from same site:

"Legal Entity

Asian College of Teachers is the registered Trading and Brand name of TTA Training Pvt., Ltd, India, Asia Teachers Training Co., Ltd, Thailand, Asian College Of Teachers Ltd, United Kingdom and Asian College of Teachers LLC, USA. ACT is not a formal degree granting College and it's Certificates, Diplomas are issued solely by them in accreditation and endorsement with several Education bodies and accreditation organisations Globally. The name College is used in the "Branding" because it's an educational institution and establishment as per the Memorandum of Association (MOA) of the company, in particular one providing higher education or specialised professional or vocational training."

Kalas wrote: ENEB degrees aren't "recognized" by the Spanish government

Yes they are - as long as they're awarded by a recognized Spanish University. Most ENEB offerings are from Universidad Isabel 1. They're 100% recognized by Spanish Authorities. BUT - they're recognized as "titulos propios" and have specific limitations. Not valid for entry into Doctoral programs in Spain or for Spanish Government employment purposes.

Validential is OK as long as the co. or school you apply to accepts it. Don't count on RA equivalency -or much of anything else - from other evaluators. Many companies and pretty well all accredited schools are choosy about what credential evaluators they want people to use. Usually a short list, or NACES members only, possibly AICE members -- it varies. Some don't care and will take anything that "looks OK." You roll the dice and take your chances.

And getting admitted to Doctoral Studies at an accredited US school based on a Master Propio from ENEB / Isabel I ? That's like winning the Powerball - a fluke.

I am reaching out to inquire if anyone has studied a degree program with Selinus University (https://uniselinus.education/?gad_source..._oQAvD_BwE) Thank you

That's not very likely - they are not accredited by any recognized accreditation agency nor recognized as university in Italy where they reside (how they get away with using word University in their company name I don't know, perhaps Italian law is lax about that).

No one on this board or sister board has taken Selinus University studies due to their accreditation, simply because they aren't accredited properly, you may want to review a couple previous posts of mine in regards to them.

Firstly, thank you to everyone that assisted with my previous questions on certain Educational Institutions. I am reaching out again to ask for any advice or recommendations for an accredited Educational Institution to complete my doctorate that is in the bracket of $ 2700 to $4500. The Institutions I managed to contact (Selinus University, European University Campus and Asian College of Teachers) are in that bracket but according to the members on this forum it's been better to stay clear from them
