Almost done with Pierpont BOG degree..trying to decide where to go next

Thanks everyone for your feedback and advice. I'm leaning pretty strongly towards UMPI now. I like that they have shorter terms & courses will transfer elsewhere if needed. From what I can tell from reading threads, it seems like their model has more projects and essays and fewer proctored exams to pass. I was worried about finding the time to schedule exams. 

I'm not looking forward to taking another science and lab + foreign language, but I know there are many options listed in the group for that. 

I'm taking Accounting on Study.com right now for my last course to complete my BOG degree at Pierpont. I'm hoping I'll be able to satisfy one of the math requirements with that. I'll plug my courses in the the Gen Ed Requirements to start a tally. 

If you have any more advice, please send it my way.

The lab science is a virtual lab if you complete the biology with lab course on Study.com. The foreign language can be completed on InstantCert where you don't have to do any speaking. It looks like you have 2 art classes which most people are lacking so they have to take art history on Sophia and a humanities course at UMPI. Was one a studio art course?

I'd advise you to check https://degreeforum.miraheze.org/wiki/UM...quivalents for the latest Sophia-to-UMPI information that we have available. I would fill in the GEC table below with the CC credits you already have. ( Grades of D will not transfer, but C- or better would https://www.degreeforum.net/mybb/Thread-...l-transfer ). Once you've done that, you can start figuring out what Sophia (and elsewhere) courses you might need to fill in the remaining GEC requirements.

I think katiem727 has a good portion of the GEC completed and some/all of UMPI's elective credits. The GEC is at least 40 credits, but some of the credits you currently have would fill requirements already met by other credits. These additional credits would then drop down to your electives until your electives are full. For instance, Psychology and Sociology both fill requirement 2B. Only one of these can be used in that slot. Once you get Intro to Ethics from Sophia, which is needed for at least requirement 5D, I'm guessing that Psychology will probably drop down to electives.

that makes sense about the Psychology and Sociology dropping down to an elective once I pencil in Ethics for 5d. I'm working on my plan right now and just noticed that. Thank you! I'm working on the plan actually for the Bachelor of Liberal Studies with a Management Minor since I have so many credits that will apply.

On the Gen Ed sheet under 5D, it looks like Philosophy (PHI 151) is the common course, not ethics that fulfills this and several other sections. Should I take that on Sophia instead? Why are so many people on the thread mentioning ethics instead? Am I missing something?

Ethics at Sophia has 0 assignments. Ancient Greek Philosophers has 2 assignments. We recommend at least taking Greek Philosophers, but not doing the assignments, before taking Ethics at Sophia. It makes things easier. But it really depends on your preferences.

Ethics fills several areas of the GEC including 2A, 2B, 4C, and 5D. Many students don't have a philosophy course. Many people don't take it on Sophia. Also if you're going for a business degree, you'll take an additional legal and ethics course at UMPI.

Do you have a budget? How about tuition assistance or reimbursement from work? Would you rather get this done easy, quick but pay a bit more? UMPI is a great option, if you can splurge on a degree without taking a lab or language course for a more expensive degree, then add TESU to the list, you just need the cornerstone/capstone and transfer everything in from ACE/NCCRS sources, they have the HRM option.

Last but not least, you can go for a basic BABA at UMPI or whichever you decide to go, and get a Masters in HRM, an option is at Walden using their Tempo system. It's $2900/3month term plus $165/term fee... if you finish two terms, that's 6 months and roughly 6 grand for a Masters.

If you have a number of credits already the BLS is much easier route than the BABA. That's why I did the BLS. I only needed a few ACE credits and my 30 at UMPI to get my degree. I did more than the 30 required credits because I added 2 extra minors and a few extra classes that weren't required.
