After having my transcripts evaluated by the big 3 for an Associates, I have narrowed it down to TESC & COSC. I am leaning towards TESC as of the ease of taking courses at other sites and transferring in. When looking at COSC, I don't see how to meet the remaining classes other than CLEP, DSST or taking the class. Am I missing something with regards to COSC? After being out of school for so long, I don't want to jump in with trying to test out of everything and failing. I know most feel it is better to go for the Bachelors, but I need to feel I am finishing SOMETHING! Hoping that once I get my AS I will continue on. Thanks for any input you can give as I am ready to get moving now that my evals are done.
Need at TESC:
Ethics – Straighterline Anthropology
Diversity – Straighterline Business Ethics
Ethics or Diversity Elective – Straighterline Sociology
Business Law – Straighterline/Saylor
Principles of Management – Saylor (education portal) or CLEP
Principles of Marketing – Saylor (education portal)
Need at COSC:
Cornerstone - COSC
Ethical Decision Making -
Global Understanding -
Literature & Fine Art -
Natural Science -
Non US History/Culture - West Civ I @ Straighterline
Edited to add that I only need one class in each, do not need any science labs. Going for Business.

Need at COSC:
- Cornerstone - COSC (no getting out of it unfortunately)
- Ethical Decision Making - SL's Business Ethics BUS106 = COSC's Business Ethics and Individual Values - PHL 485 and meets ethical decision making requirement and information literacy
- Global Understanding - Intro to World Religions @ SL meets global understanding requirement. I know it's not on the list but I just checked with the registrar at COSC the other day and they said they would accept this course. It's a new course.) I opted for the DSST to meet this requirement.
- Literature & Fine Art - You could easily (imo) test out of Lit with English or American Lit CLEP using Education-Portal videos but that's for you to decide. The CLEPs render 6 credits.
- Natural Science - StraighterLine’s BIO101 & BIO101L (Charter Oaks’ BIO110 & 111) meet the full science requirement.
- Non US History/Culture - West Civ I @ SL
Don't miss out on something great just because it might also be difficult.

The DSST Cultural Geography will satisfy both your global and non US requirements. I don't really understand your question, COSC basically accepts as many credits from diverse sources as the others, in fact they are the only remaining Big 3 that takes FEMA for free. The big downside , to some, is the addition of cornerstone. COSC uses cornerstone to set you up to finish and to ensure you know something about research and writing, both good things in my opinion.
For literature the Analyzing and Interpreting Lit is roundly lauded as the easiest of the CLEP's.
You will need a lab science, SL is likely easiest. (7 credits total in science, thats two classes, one with an added 1 credit lab)
COSC Master List is here

MBA, Western Governors University February 2014
BS Charter Oak State College November 2011
AS in EMS August 2010
I'm always happy to complete the free application waiver for those applying to WGU (I get a free gift from WGU for this). Just PM me your first/last name and a valid email so I can complete their form.

Thanks soliloquy for the clarification on the Business Ethics, as I had read that COSC wouldn't accept it, and for the info on Intro to World
Religions. Will definitely check on that. I don't need a lab, just an extra science. You have gave me some great info, thanks!

This is SL's approved course equivalencies with COSC.
Charter Oak State College | StraighterLine
This is COSC's master course list.
Courses - Charter Oak State College Catalog
SL's list shows what COSC excepts and the COSC list shows what requirements the course meets. I hope that helps.
I'm actually taking 9 credits at COSC right now and this is my first semester. The cornerstone isn't something I'm overly excited about but it would be a great help to people who have been out of school for a long time.
