American Literature CLEP Help Question

Ok guys, I have till August 31st to get 12 Credit Hours done. I decided that I would retry this one for the end of the month. I have been working and studying again. I have waited 3 + months and really need to pass. I have a dead line from my college and I have till the 31st of August. Any help additional info anything. I feel like I am not studying it correctly. Whats the trick??

Just for clarity, American Lit is worth 3 credits.
I studied only 1 book and passed American Lit- Idiot's Guide to American Literature. YMMV

+1, grab a book, any book in regards to American Literature. It can be a free book from the library.
You can check the free resources available online if you wanted and review some practice exams.

There's no trick as everyone studies differently, if you don't feel ready for the exam, find out what section you're having issues with.
Grab extra books or study guides/practice exams and try them out to see where you stand or whats missing.

If you like reading, the Broadview Anthology of American Lit. is a really comprehensive set you can get from the library. Mainly read the introductions to the time periods. Even scanning the list of works/authors has helped me. Happy studying!

The big humanities tests like American Lit are STILL 6 credits at TESU.

At other colleges, those humanities tests are downgraded to 3 credits as updated by ACE recommendation last year. If you end up with 6, it's a gift at this point.

Yes, that is true. However, the CLEP actually titled Humanities should still be worth 6 credits, since it is a general exam

In October 2015, 8 exams were downgraded. That said, college can always choose to give you more or less- TESU awards 6, but for the most part, if you see "6" written somewhere, assume it's a mistake.

Also, American Lit is a test of trivial pursuit. Memorizing the names of authors, dates, periods, etc. followed by some reading comprehension and analysis is all you need. I didn't read a single novel in preparation for that exam. In my opinion, an anthology would be excessive investment and not hit on the important "must know" knowledge. Anthologies are really used for the class (I use them in my homeschool with my children) but this exam isn't that- it's memorizing.
