Unfinished Psychology Grad Degree - What Can I do?

The other option is the local college 'Spring Arbor University' is fully accredited and they'll take 12 out of my 45 credits of previous work. The cost is aprox $560 per hour.. but I've seen online schools in that range. And they weren't accredited. My last school (where I earned the grad credits) was only regionally accredited. Which meant you couldn't practice outside of California.

Actually regional accreditation is the highest form of accreditation. It's what "real" schools like Michigan or Harvard (or even Spring Arbor University)  have. National accreditation, while it sounds like it would somehow be better, is actually substantially worse in terms of utility and portability of degrees and credits. Being regionally accredited has nothing to do with why your license would have been California specific.

Like davewill said, there are different levels of accreditation; Regionally Accredited (RA) is the highest and best.  All state schools are RA; all ivy league schools are RA; community colleges are normally RA.  National Accreditation (NA) is next.

"Fully accredited" doesn't really mean anything, since both RA and NA are "fully" accredited.

Also, most RA schools will only take credits from other RA schools, while NA schools will take RA or NA credits.

Accreditation is the how a governing body certifies a school.

Being able to practice in certain states has nothing to do with accreditation, and everything to do with licensing, which is a state-level thing (or sometimes national).  Or states can have reciprocal agreements, meaning a state can say they will accept a license for this particular job from all states, or particular states (many states have reciprocal agreements in regards to gun licensing for example).

Sorry I wasn't clear... my last school was regionally accredited but they didn't have the specific CACREP accreditation. Which means their graduates can only work as professional counselors in the state of California. Kind of like a Law School having a regional accreditation but not being approved by the American Bar Association.. if that makes sense.
