Has anyone taken the DSST cyber security course? Where's the best place to get study material?

there is info in the specific exam feedback- if you don't have access to that folder in a nutshell it's very hard with a low pass rate.

Do you have any IT experience either work or certs?
I took this exam back in July. I've been in the IT field for 5-7 years and have taken CompTIA A+, CompTIA Security+, & EC-Councils Certified Ethical Hacker exams prior to this DSST. Having said all of that I barely passed with a 409. I found quite a bit of the content outdated and some of the "hacking tools" were really really ridiculously old.
I know AJS1976 took it shortly after me and did a little better, and he had just come off of studying for the SCCP cert.
Start
here and then start looking up topics you aren't comfortable with on line and watch some of
Professor Messer's Security+ training videos.
Its definitely not impossible, but its pretty tough and there isn't really any official study material out there for it.

You can also get 6 free $0 cybersecurity credits using TEEX. There is 1 credit (is that right?) overlap/duplication but the other credits should work for you without a test.

I think since TESC updated how they evaluate TEEX credits (around 7/1/2015) they no longer overlap.
TEEX-250 = CAP-295 Intro to Security Basics
TEEX-251 = CAP-385 Network Security
TEEX-252 = CIS-244 Computer Security
And from the catalog the DSST exam comes in as CIS-344 Fundamentals of Cybersecurity.

Prior to 7/1 I think TEEX-251 was coded as CIS-344 (2 credits) as was the DSST (3 credits).

I have 14 years experience. I still get a little test anxiety, unfortunately. If the test's questions are like the most recent CompTIA Security+ CE, then I'm golden. If they have worded that you can overthink like the CISSP, then I'm screwed if I take it.

I'm a little worried. These titles look similar to past classes I've received credit. I wanted some thing that explicitly states "cybersecurity."

These are free courses that you can take, online and unproctored. The courses themselves are actually named Cybersecurity for Everyone, Cybersecurity for Business Professionals, and Cybersecurity for IT Professionals. The CAP-295, CAP-385 and CIS-244 are the course numbers that TESC gives for them.
DSST exams are definitely one of the easier tests to take (after CLEP). I personally think that they are NOT worded to try to trick you or make it difficult to choose an answer. If you know the material well, you stand a chance at passing. With that being said, this is considered one of the more difficult DSST exams to take, and it's especially difficult because there's no true study material for it.
My husband took it recently, he said the material is similar to the CISSP, but easier. He agrees with me that it's not worded to be tricky. He suggested the Information Security Management Handbook by Tipton.
