As I have now earned 81 credits in seven months, I find myself alittle curious as to how much time on average my fellow students spend preparing for Clep or Dantes testing? I now regret how I overstudied for the first four or five Clep exams only to realize that I could have speeded this process up if I had been alittle more aggressive. At about the sixth or seventh test I realized I could easily pass the tests with 3 days of studying. Any other comments.. I know I was not the only one taking too much time between tests.

I wish I could be so bold and sit an exam in as little as three days, it's just not enough time for me. I take three weeks of study to prepare for any exam.

I found out it worked and it kept on working without fail ...except for english comp...yukko!

Depends on the test. Some, like mathematics and biology, took about a week-week and a half of preparation before I felt prepared enough to sit for it. Others, like business law, I studied for one evening then took the next morning. I'd say the average is probably similar to yours: 2-3 days.
I'm taking a bit more time for my Dantes tests--if I can. I'm trying to reschedule so that I don't have to take Civil War and Reconstruction as well as Intro to the Modern Middle East in one day (next Tuesday). I honestly think a week each will be enough for these two.

In general? I take two weeks, but for my weak areas I may take three weeks, but then again, I have taken some in less than a week. It just depends on how I feel about the test. I don't generally live life by feelings, but I do depend on them for tests

I think my record was 15 hours in 5 weeks, one a week. I go by gut feel mostly and I do try not to spend more than a week studying. Cram it in, reguritate it for the exam. I think for most of us at this point in our lives, we pick up tidbits of info we find interesting and we do learn along the way but, at least for me, I'm not an impressionable kid anymore so it's more about passing the exam then on to the next...
On pretty much all DSST's and CLEP's, it's fairly easy to do, but with some of the ECE's I've had to study for more than one at the same time. Not a big fan of that.
I have a VERY lofty goal of 11 more exams by the end of June, that's roughly one a week for the next two months. I may be dead, divorced, or who knows what by the end of the process, but that's the goal.

OR.. better yet you'll be 33 credits, at least, closer to graduating!!! Good luck with the tests and the marriage.

Wow, hats off to all of you! I'm just not that fearless and I definitely would be dead and divorced! I envy your courage.
I average four weeks for 3 credits, 6 weeks for 6 credits, but my goal is to achieve "A" level on every exam and I can't be sure of doing that unless I thoroughly review the material. I am overstudying in some areas, but I think I'm getting a broad education. I plan to get an MLS degree so I need the "A"s for scholarship opportunities.

Becky..sounds like you have a formula that works for you and that's what we all need to do. Obviously, the subject matter and the extensiveness of its' content dictate for all of us the time required to master the subject matter. I find it really interesting to note how many people can quickly assimilate the subject matter and then go forth..empty out the contents of their brains over the test format ..pass and quickly move on. For me Instantcert is my security blanket that has in fact kept me on track scholastically and financially.

I actually average about 10 actual "STUDY" days per exam, with about 3 to 4 âprocrastinationâ days thrown in there somewhere. Just depends on the subject matter. I only have three test left till I graduate.
ECE Org Behavior
ECE Ethics
DSST Civil War
Because I donât have any room for failure, I have been a little gun shy on pulling the trigger and actually taking one of these exams, even though I know I have over studies for all of them.
