RBOWMAN Wrote:Becky..sounds like you have a formula that works for you and that's what we all need to do. Obviously, the subject matter and the extensiveness of its' content dictate for all of us the time required to master the subject matter. I find it really interesting to note how many people can quickly assimilate the subject matter and then go forth..empty out the contents of their brains over the test format ..pass and quickly move on. For me Instantcert is my security blanket that has in fact kept me on track scholastically and financially.
It's been really insightful seeing what some of the others do. I guess I kinda live on the edge. I set a target date and work backwards from there, kinda trying to get in as much as possible during the time frame.
I have been quite fortunate, I've gotten A's on everything I've taken using Instacert as my main or sometimes only source of study. Well, except one that I totally bombed - in hindsight, it was a really bad day to test and I didn't listen to my gut telling me so.
I also kinda do what I call the Binge/Purge method that you refer to, Rbowman. I do keep the information that I found cool or interesting in my brain, but honestly, I can't tell you who Brezhnev's prime minster was and I just took the test yesterday. laf!

I could care less about Brezhnev's prime minister..and yes it was on the test..and I couldn't agree more with your binge-purging comment. I never thought of it quite that way, but that's an appropriate summary. I got an "A" ON THIS TEST , BUT TODAY..DAH?

CONGRATS on the A! That's fabulous! I'm in the same boat with Shoto right now, waiting... I'm still waiting on my Civil War results as well, I took it the week or so before USSR. Hope it comes back soon, I'm not big on waiting!

Not that I am an expert (yet

) but I suppose if the exam is strictly pass/fail, I wouldn't be so worried about doing spectacular since it won't really reflect anywhere. My plan (at least for CLEP) is to take the practice tests from the College Board (after studying here) and if I pass that with a decent score, then I'm ready. Does that sound good?

How many practice exams do they offer? I like to take at least 3 (REA, Petersens, and others) before I take the practice exam found in the official CLEP Study Guide. If I score MORE THAN HALF consistently then I know I'm ready......
