BSBA BS... Dual degree nonsense.

Awesome, so if anyone is in this exact catalog year and also in this situation, you may pressure the registrar or dean to see if they can make an exception to bring this back to the BSBA catalog requirements. There has been NO change in requirements, it's just a degree name change and shouldn't really affect anything, but their system did recognize it as different degrees now... Hmm, I might go all the way to the VP/President asking why/what benefit has this done but cause issues...

I took the diplomatic approach at the start but was dug in for a long fight if things went the other way. They did specifically say that they were not making a policy change so I think their current stance will still be that you need quite a bit of evidence showing the communication that backs your position. I think if you go in with just "the website said" you might be in for a tough fight. I still think you would be right and have a case but that doesn't always mean you will win.

I wasn’t already planning on getting a second degree, just one with two AOS, so I’m okay with that. I just hope there aren’t more surprises. Like, will I need to meet different requirements to get two degrees than I would originally have had with just one degree and two AOS?
I thought someone might find this useful, so figured I'd update this post. I spoke with some in the registrar's office and they clarified "You will be earning two separate degrees, a BSBA degree with an area of study in Accounting and a BS degree with an area of study in Computer Information Systems.  Because you will be earning two degrees, you will not be able to earn a third bachelor's degree with TESU.

Does that mean that it is now an option to take the BS in Data Analytics (through mostly statistics.com) and the BS-CIS as a single degree with a double major???

If so, that might be of interest for someone who wants to get into business analytics.

So, do I have this right- you can get a BS in CIS and a BSBA in Finance and just do one capstone?

Apparently, yes! If someone wanted to though, they can probably do a BS CIS/2nd AOS, plus a BSBA FIN/2nd AOS as they are two degrees with two AOS. Just because of a name change in the degree, the degree is exactly as it was before. I would have never imagined this would happen... a waste of a double degree though...

Yep! I am only doing one capstone and was not told I would need to complete anything additional. I've only inquired about my personal situation and that was the reply, which came from the Assistant Director of Graduation and Certification.

I would certainly reach out to TESU for confirmation before making any assumptions and proceeding with additional coursework. This is fairly new territory, so we don't yet have any evidence that they will still allow multiple AOS while combining these types of degrees. For me, personally, it worked out because I did not intend on getting a double degree, so this change did not mess with my original plan the way it did with the original poster.

I think I answered my own question from above: Since the BS-CIS is from the School of Business and Management and the BS-Data Analytics is from the Heavin School, I don't think they can be combined into one degree with two concentrations.

I am also curious whether it actually pans out that the BS-CIS and the BSBA-Finance can be combined with only one Capstone. I will be following...
