My first language is Spanish, so I asked the same question to the TESU advisor and he told me that the NYU exams would only transfer as Electives. So they won't count as part of the core. But you can still get 12 credits maximum.

I agree. Your first language, second language, etc. won't matter. Any exam you pass in language would result in humanities (followed by gen ed elective) credit.
