Biology vs. Intro to Computers DSST and Intro to Sociology?
#1
I've been sort of kind of studying (we're in the middle of moving...) biology for a little while now, and I'm beginning to think I ought to take intro to computers and intro to sociology instead. As many of y'all probably know by now, I'm working towards a BA in History from TESC. I think I only lack 3 math/science credits and 3 gen ed electives to finish all of the general education requirements. (That's assuming TESC will accept astronomy as a science...?)

That said, I don't think I have to take biology; I was just trying to complete the remaining 6 credits in a single test. I'm just not sure if I'm going to be able to study enough to pass it though.

I've heard that the two tests I'm thinking about using to replace it are easy. Is that true? I've read the specific exam feedback for much of both of them, and it seems to remain true. Would those of y'all who have taken them recommend those tests over the biology test? Any info would be appreciated!!!

Thanks!

I've taken Sociology and CLEP Information Systems and Computer Applications (the one that is supposed to be harder than Intro to Computing).

Easy is in the the eye of the beholder and all...but faced with a choice like that, no contest, I would take the two tests. Are you sure intro to Computing is a Math/Science at TESC?

I've taken all 3 exams and would say that Intro to Computers can be taken by anyone with basic computer knowledge cold.. Intro to Soc is very easy w/IC only.. I passed Bio, but barely

Think of it this way.. If u opt for the two exam path and, God-forbid, u failed one (or both).. u'd still have the Bio as a back-up.

If u do it the other way around and fail Bio 1st, u'd be in a 'must win' situation with TWO exams

my two cents

Y'all have just confirmed what I was leaning towards doing anyway. Thanks so much!!!

Phillip, Intro to Computing is listed as COS-101-DE under the math/science DSST lising HERE. Thanks for making me double check though. Smile

Intro to computing and intro to sociology are my next tests then. Again, y'all, thank you for your replies and opinions!
