Hello - I am signed up for the fall session of Book for Excelsior Business Strategy 495. I have the book required (Essentials of Strategic Management: The Quest for Competitive Advantage), but it is the 2nd edition, not the 3rd edition called for in the class. Has anyone taken this class recently? Would the 2nd edition work? Also, what's the best way to purchase access to the Business Strategy Game that you need for the class - from Excelsior, or direct at the BSG website? Thanks for any help!

You will need the exact text. I finished this course in the summer and it is used throughout the class. You have to reference it constantly during discussions (page # to support your discussion topics) as well as the papers using the Case Studies found in the book.
If this is your last course, I recommend to bite the bullet and just buy the cheapest copy you can find in the best quality and then sell it as soon as you can. Some online websites let you lock in a selling price weeks before you actually ship the book. Find a site that does that and try to make the most of your book.
For the BSG game, buy from either source. I bought my from Amazon without any issues.

The game was fun actually. Helps that i was on the west coast. Do a Forum search for BUS495, I listed out how the course went for me week by week about 2 months ago. Feel free to PM me, i can give you my email in case you have any questions.
