I'm wondering if anyone has found a good replacement for the Excelsior Business Strategy course. I know there's no CLEP/DSST. I'm really trying to avoid having to take a 15 week course. Right now I'm looking to finish my degree by mid-July, but if I have to take this course I won't be able to finish till October. I'd hate to just have the one class delay my graduation.
I looked at CSU Pueblo Managerial Strategy and Policy
Colorado State University-Pueblo > Division of Continuing Education > Independent Study > Management > Management Strategy and Policy
but it sounds harder than the Excelsior course.
I did find a Penn Foster course, but I'm not sure if it's ACE certified or if Excelsior accepts it for this course. I've sent an email to Penn Foster to check. I also don't even know what this course entails as compared to Excelsior.

BUS425 Strategic Business Management
(3 credits)
This course establishes the foundation necessary to understand strategic business management in today’s economy. Students will integrate knowledge from this course with skills acquired in previous courses to make sound management decisions.
PREREQ: Principles of Management; Corporate Finance; Marketing; Business Law[/INDENT]
Does anyone have any other options?
Thanks.

If you are attending EC, then this course is mandatory for the Business degree.

OK I downloaded the newest Business Catalog and it clearly states:
Business Catalog 2009
Page 29
"You must take BUS 495 Business Strategy. Transfer courses are not applicable toward the business policy core requirement."
I knew they weren't taking the Thomas Edison exam, but didn't realize they weren't accepting ANY transfer credits.
Sucks.

Looks like they just updated the catalog last month. That adds about $1000 to the degree.

I think this has been a requirement for awhile. I hear it's not too hard, but it is time consuming

Sorry, what I meant was that you were able to use the TECEP exam before as a substitute for that requirement, now that choice has been taken out.

I took the course and provided feedback for the course in thread.

I also spoke with bmills072200 (Ben) about this course before I started. He stated he was able to get permission from the instructor to complete the course early. I am guessing he enrolled first then asked. I think he stated he also had Dr. Harter who taught the course.
So it might be possible to finish early and not wait the full 15 weeks.

I am nearing the end of the Operations degree at TESC. I got approval for CSU Pueblo 485 course to use towards the Bus. Policy course.
For all that were concerned that it would be difficult, don't be. If you have taken most of the other courses needed for the degree like marketing, management and the others, you will not find this difficult at all. I started a week ago and I have done 5 out of 13 chapters already. I don't think i'll finish in a couple weeks like the 311 course though because of the two papers.
I had planned on doing this course last year but things didn't work out the way I wanted so I am taking it now.
The instructor was away at a conference last week and I was afraid he was gone for the summer. He came back today and gave me full credit for all the chapters.
From looking at things all the info looks like what I have been doing over the past couple years. I just finished a 20 page analysis for an International business course and now I understand how to put them together pretty quick.
For the bus. 485 course they even give you the format of the paper, all you have to do is plug in the information.
I do think there are two proctored exams but if it is from the info in the book then it won't be difficult especially if you have taken all those other courses. We'll see how it goes but so far smooth sailing.
