Business degree from Excelsior- HELP! Please
#1
Hey everyone,

This forum is SUPEr helpful for me, thank you all SOOO much for posting and replying, I appreciate it a lot.

I have a question. I am just beginning my journey to get a Bachelors in General Business from Excelsior. I have almost no credits under my belt and have a lot of time, hope to finish within 12-18 months (is that possible?)

1. What are the best exams/courses to take for all of the requirements? I see that some of them are offered via ALEKS or STRAIGHTERLINE or CLEP or DSST or UXEL. Is there any advantage of one of those versus the other?

2. I will probably take the ALEKS College algebra, where can I get a good online calulator or math tool site to get me through it?

3. What is the benefit, if any, of doing any classes through Study.com ?

Here is the link to the degree plan for the degree I am trying for. https://my.excelsior.edu/documents/78666...2d9687245e

THANK YOU ALL!!!

Much of what is said about the various plans to get a BSBA at TESU and COSC applies to EC as well. EC will accept all of the courses that TESU will that are ACE-recommended (SL, Study.com, Saylor, ALEKS, etc.). The only thing is that I don't know the course equivalencies for all of the courses at EC.

The major issue you may have at EC is the cost - they require a 6cr capstone that will cost you about $3000. So, the degree will cost you a couple of thousand dollars more than TESU or COSC would. Not sure if it matters to you or not, but it could be a deal-breaker for some people.

The other thing at EC is that they will require 30cr of UL credit, which can be a little more difficult to get than the 12cr of UL required at TESU. That and the Capstone TECEP exam that you can test out of for $114 are two of the best things about the TESU BSBA.

If you are interested in partnership pricing at Excelsior, POAG is the Police Officer Association of Georgia, which you may join as an associate member for $25/ year.

Do you have any credits at all? Maybe an AP class back in high school, military training, that kind of thing?

For ALEKS at Excelsior, in order do Beginning Algebra, College Algebra, Precalculus, and Statistics. That will get you the 9 hours below Calculus and Statistics without duplicating credits. Excelsior is picky about taking them in order.
