Saylor.org direct credit to TESU
#11
Wonder why Saylor has such long and time consuming courses for every subject? For example, Intro to Sociology offers only 1 credit. But it is longer than many of the UL courses on study.com. Intro to western political thought is unbelievably long.

You don't have to go through any of their content though, so you can pick and choose which resources that they compile you actually want to use.

All courses are like that. Nothing feels brief and to the point. Can we pick and choose modules within courses? Not sure what will appear on their tests, and what I might be missing out on.

Yes, what I was saying is that you don't have to go through all of the material for a class you take through them. You actually don't have to read any of it if you don't want to. It just exists to help you prep for the exam at the end. Saylor is just like CLEP/DSST/TECEP/UExcel except that they provide some study materials of their own. So if you prefer, you can just study using other sources and then take the exam (like many of us do for CLEP/DSST).

Actually I tried that for two of their courses- Molecular Biology & Comparative politics. I used study.com materials to prepare for these exams. When I took the preliminary assessments, I realised the questions are quite different. And so, I had to once again use Saylor materials for these courses. Although, it was quicker, as I had already developed a basic understanding.
