Capstone classes
#1
Has anyone taken a capstone yet? What was the average length of time it took you to complete it? I took one at SUNY empire years ago, (2009) I was working on my degree then but took a “break” now I’m reviewing the options available for finishing. I’m likely not returning to SUNY Empire and accept that those 4 credit for their “capstone” could is down the drain. Excelsior didn’t accept them and told me I need to take a 12 week capstone with them. I’m wondering if that’s universal and what everyone’s experience has been if you took a capstone. Thanks so much for any feedback!!

First, some schools have them, some don't (although it's common). Second, some degrees, have them, some don't.

BUT, what I do know about most schools is that you can't transfer in the capstone, even if you took it somewhere else.

Those capstone credits from SUNY may not be wasted, they may not transfer into one of the Big3 as 'the capstone' but the course will likely be able to be transferred in as an elective at the least.

Unfortunately all of the Big3 require a capstone. A lot of us have had to take one. At TESU (and the other two as well, I believe) , you will be doing fresh research, not summing up your old learning. While still challenging, it sounds more interesting than what you had to do.
