I've take advantage of the Guardian scholarship the last 3 months and want to try straightline for a while. I would like your suggestions as to which courses to take. I was thinking of doing microeconomics, macroeconomics, and maybe the English Comp's. Any suggestions? Ideally I would like to do as many straightline courses as possible that have open book finals.
So far I have completed the following in pursuit of a TESU BSBA GM or Finance degree:
Aleks: Intermediate Algebra, College Algebra, Precalculus, Intro to Satistics
Study.com" Personal Finance, Principles of Finance, Principles of Management, US History I, US History II, History of the Vietnam War
TEEK: Cybersecurity 1, 2 and 3
Institutes: Ethics
ACTFL: Spanish OPiC and WPT
Clep: Spanish
Started October 2016

This is for others who may get that Guardian scholarship as well, and should know something important before starting: PLAN YOUR DEGREE!
You capped out on Gen Ed Electives and have wasted courses (with all that Spanish credit, you actually won't be using the WPT and 2 of the history courses). Assuming that you got 9cr for the CLEP, 12cr for the OPIc and 12cr for the WPT, you are at 79cr for Gen Eds. So 19 of those hard-earned credits will be thrown down into "Other courses" and not used in your degree at all.
Most people would be better off using Study.com to get courses that are UL or are hard to find. You could have gotten Project Management, Applied Managerial Accounting, Advanced Accounting, HRM, Strategic HRM, or Digital Marketing & Advertising. All courses you could have used in your AOS as UL. Global Management would have been good as well, as it's required in the core.
For SL, there are plenty of courses you can get, but you really just need to work from the list of courses you NEED to get, rather than just randomly taking things. So, take all of your accounting courses: Accounting I & II, Financial Accounting, and Managerial Accounting. Or take Org Behavior. Intro to Religion (Info Lit requirement). Intro to Communication (Speech requirement). A science course (Physics and Env Sci may still have open book finals). American Government (Civic Engagement requirement). Macro and Microecon (neither has open book finals that I know of). Sociology (Diversity requirement).
Good luck!

Thanks for the info. I haven't actually taken the Spanish CLEP, was going to go next week but shouldn't be a problem since I am a native speaker. I'm guessing I wont be able to request a refund or exchange for another CLEP. I guess I'll just take it for the credits since its paid for,
I was going to take the US History II study.com final this weekend but based on your information I might try to cram in Digital Marketing and Advertising which is a short course on study.com.
In February I will start on the SL courses you mentioned. I've been trying to use one of the templates so there is no overlap but I was confused as to how Spanish would be credited.
Thanks for your help!

It certainly can't hurt to contact CLEP and ask if you can switch to another exam. I would do that!
I will attach a degree plan for you so you can see where the Spanish credits (and others) would go.

Thank you for degree plan! This is very helpful. However, I see you left OPIc and Vietnam War of the credit list, are these duplicate credits? If so I will definitely try to change the CLEP exam. Thanks again!

When my son took Micro and Macro at SL, they were the only closed book finals he had of the 9 or 10 courses he took on SL. Intro to Communications is very straightforward, with three video submissions required. I have no idea if you need any of these, but here are the courses my son completed in 5 days or less at SL and found pretty easy - Business Ethics, Business Law, Organizational Behavior, Environmental Science, US History 2, Psychology, Principles of Management. He did Corporate Communication and Principles of Marketing via Saylor (free, just pay $25 for proctoring) and found those to be quite manageable in about a week or so each.
Here Researching for my son, who has done the following: Community College: Intro to Philosophy, Fundamentals of IT, English Comp 1 Saylor: Intro to Business, Principles of Marketing, Corporate Communication Shmoop: US History 2 (WGU won't accept this) ALEKS: Int. Algebra, College Algebra Study.com: Personal Finance, Principles of Finance, HR Management, Global Business, Advanced Operations Management Straighterline: US History 2, Environmental Science, US History, Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, English Comp 2, Principles of Management, Business Law, Business Ethics, Psychology, Organizational Behavior, Accounting 1,Communication, Managerial Accounting, Statistics Ed4Credit: Managing Information Systems Sophia: Project Management WGU: Bachelors in HR Management
Second son is currently attending Penn Foster for his high school diploma, then on to Ashworth for An Associates in Criminal Justice

I would agree. I don't think the assignments are too difficult in Digital Marketing from what I read. Then again I do this everyday, so maybe I am biased, but it's a great option for a UL class (depending on the school)
Would love to see a couple more marketing classes from Study.com, there are not many available out there that are not duplicates of basically an intro class

They are not off, just way down at the bottom. There is just nowhere to put them (Gen Eds and Free Electives are full).

Not sure if there is a time frame to do it but they do allow you to change what your exam ticket is for. If you login to your account there is a way to do this (not sure how since the site changes). The only downside is it makes you pay for the new ticket and then refunds your "old" ticket in like 3-4 business days.
Another note is I'm sorry to see that you didn't use Study.com well, you really should have targeted any UL courses you can't get anywhere else. Like dfecore said looks like you managed to really load up more on Gen Eds. Study.com/SL are great for getting your UL requirements in. If you don't mind CLEPs they are a great source of Gen Eds and or electives.
