Charter Oak State College - New Requirement - Required Course - Non Transferable
#1
Received a letter from Charter Oak State College

July 1 begins a new academic year at Charter Oak State College. There are several important changes of which you should be aware:

- Fees will be increasing slightly - most between 2-5%

- The academic services fee will be the same for the associate and bachelor's degree

- Bachelor degree candidates must complete a concentration capstone experience at Charter Oak State College with a grade of "C" or higher. The purpose of this experience is to demonstrate mastery of the learning outcomes in the chosen concentration. This requirement may not be met with a course transferred from another institution. This requirement replaces the academic autobiography.

For myself that basically tells me that I won't be going to Charter Oak State College..

I'll have to look at their course and see what it involves. Typically capstone classes aren't too bad. I did EC's Integrated Technology Assessment and it was the easiest class I've taken. Basically, there are no wrong answers.

I usually recommend people look at EC over CO. In my experience it's just a slightly better option.

charter oak is a smaller school with exceptional customer service, but EC only requires the Information Literacy course (a one credit course).

Charter Oak is now requiring the Capstone course, which if students are lucky is a one credit course. If its a 3 credit course, it could translate to another $1000 dollars.

I got an email from Charter Oak today. The capstone is a 3-credit course that lasts 15 weeks. They told me it costs $295 per credit for out of state residents. They did not provide me any other information.

If you are in any of the Business majors at EC, Business Strategy, a capstone course, is required. This course cannot be transferred in at EC either Sad
