Check your test center before you test
#1
I took the College Composition Modular CLEP yesterday. I spent the past couple of weeks re-learning how to properly write an essay and can type quite fast. I arrived ready to go, and was handed a Scantron sheet...

OK... :leaving:

Then I was handed a booklet containing essay questions, and another booklet containing lined paper...

Yes, I spent three hours writing by hand! :ack:

Moral: If in doubt, check that your test center has the electronic version of the test before you sign up.

Now to ice my arm again... :nopity:

OMG I write so little that my hand actually gets sore on the rare occasion that I have to hand-write a personal check. I would literally be crying hilarious

OMG! And I thought the Business Law class I had was bad. The instructor gave pencil/paper essay exams and we spent the entire hour and a half writing them. My hand was cramped after an hour of it!! I can't imagine doing that for three hours!! I feel for ya

Thanks for the reminder. Walking in to that would have really knocked me for a loop, but it sounds as if you handled it if your funny e-mail is any indicator!

That reminds me of final time in high school...so many questions with 3 tests in a day so we had to write long answers for the whole morning for a week...my hand was killing!!

Oh, this happens, sometimes I would get ready for the test only to find out that my testing center don't test until next week, or so

Wow, I didn't know CLEP still did written tests. My College Comp. CLEP was on computer thank goodness. I took my midterm for TESC Managerial Communications last month. I thought it was going to a lot of multiple choice questions and a few short answer essays. WRONG! 15 multiple choice questions and two scenario essays requiring THREE pages each MINIMUM. All of this in two hours, and I say that I used every bit of it. So was so unprepared to write essays for that exam. I ended up getting a C on the midterm.

I hope you passed dcan. That's a pretty tough test.

The guy sitting next to me was writing like crazy for his UMUC final. So not looking forward to things like that.

Thanks. Well I think I did fairly well on the multiple choice part, and one of the essays I think I did better than the other. But I spent too much time on it. I ran the second one (sourcing) down to the wire as well. The names of the sources alone that I cited were nearly a full sentence each! :nopity:

Here's the kicker: On my "good" essay one of my examples was about the rabies vaccine research of Dr. Linus Pauling and how he saved countless lives. I talked quite a bit about Dr. Linus Pauling and how he was scoffed at for using germ theory when others couldn't figure out a cure. I got that from a book I read as a child.

Anyway, I realized on the way home why it didn't feel right. It's because it was Louis Pasteur who made the rabies vaccine, not Linus Pauling! LP=LP, brain pattern matched on the initials and that was the name that it spit out and I didn't have time to think it through.

I hope it doesn't fail me! Sad

Who knows, they may not even care. I think they're are looking for grammatical, sentence structure, and ability to cite correctly.

Just be glade you didn't have to write an essay on failure (yup, that was mine). It really makes you feel happy to be sitting in an exam writing an essay about FAILURE. Oh what a wonderful topic. I'd love to spend 30 minutes of my day writing about failure.:ack: Confusedmilelol:

Although I did pass (52). :imwithstupid:
