College is a con: The savage truth about your bachelor’s degree - Salon.com

"Higher education wears the cloak of liberalism, but in policy and practice, it's a cutthroat system of exploitation"

I don't think many here would disagree with the overall message.

I'm always happy to complete the free application waiver for those applying to WGU (I get a free gift from WGU for this).  Just PM me your first/last name and a valid email so I can complete their form.

In many ways, higher education reminds me of a drowning man - willing to drag anyone down in an attempt to survive.

Good article. More parents and students should read it. People just stand in line and take it. All of these inflated prices. It's just terrible out there. I still have one more kid under my wing to get college done.

I feel sorry for many college grads.

Especially criminal justice majors.

I have seen tons get out and think they should be snapped up immediately. In my area (East Tennessee), a degree honestly isn't as helpful at the local, county and state level as it would be to spend a year in that agencies' Reserve unit, or maybe playing baseball on a team sponsored by a state senator (seriously).

I think college may be a victim of its' own success. As the number of graduates increase, their value may decrease.

Of course, when in 2016 many entry level positions require some sort of post-secondary education, one may even venture that the A.S. is now the High School diploma of twenty years ago.
