Commissioned Corps

My wife just recently got hired by IHS in a supervisory position as an engineer. She's looking at possibly entering the Commissioned Corps. We have the basic info about BAS and BAH. Not sure what grade she'd start out at. Does anyone have any personal experience with the Comissioned Corps? Pros and cons? Is there any difference when dealing with income tax or various other taxes (probably state dependent I'd imagine)? Thanks in advanced.
