Coopersmith Upper Level Math?
#11
It transfers into TESU as MAT-303 Concepts in Math and Quanti

I know because I had it pre-planned. Just didnt need it anymore.

So just FYI - these are still a valid thing. I'm working through a math degree via TESU and I'm using Coopersmith for two. Only two, because, per Brian that I'm working with to pre-plan:

1) Coopersmith MAT305 (Linear Algebra) transfers in as MAT-321 (Linear Algebra)
2) Coopersmith MAT303 transfers in as BUS-210 which duplicates the CSM Learn course, so pay $39 instead of $150 and just do CSM Learn. Also isn't really relevant as an upper level class.
3) Coopersmith MAT301 (Concepts in Math and Quantitative Analysis) transfers in as MAT-303 (not sure of name because it's not really in their online catalog at the moment, but based on a prior post has the same name)
4) Coopersmith MAT304 (Probability and Statistics) transfers in as STA-201 (Statistics) not upper level - And is the same as Aleks Intro Statistics - so again, pay $20 and get it instead of $150.

So there you have it - a very very (less than a few hours) old update of this.

There's no particular type of math that you need to know that's beyond basic algebra, geometry, probability and statistics (the math itself might even be high school level), but the questions can be complicated and all ask for applications rather than just execution. The questions are probably in between SAT-math level and GRE-math level.

Here are some sample questions from the exam bank that didn't make the cut to the final exam:

Plant A is 10 inches tall, and Plant B is 20 inches tall. If Plant A shrinks 2 inches per year and Plant B grows 2 of an inch per year, how tall will Plant B be when Plant A disappears altogether?

Let A and B be two finite sets such that n(A) = 20, n(B) = 28 and n(A ∪ B) = 36, find n(A ∩ B).

A passenger train and a freight train leave atown at the same time and travel in opposite directions. Their speeds are 60 mph and 75 mph, respectively. How long will it take for the trains to be 297 miles apart?

wow, that's a joke
Excelsior's UExcel Contemporary Mathematics seems to cover the same material and its lower level

I expected an upper level course to be more like UExcel's Quantitative Analysis

The MAT 301 class is basically a GMAT/GRE question bank, not hard if you already have a good high school math foundation.
Separately, can someone comfirm that Coopersmith's MAT 303 isn't a UL..It just, the syllabus for coopersmiths's MAT303 seems harder than coopersmith's MAT 301.

I'm creating a new thread about it as well: https://www.degreeforum.net/mybb/Thread-...#pid367269
Completed TESU BA in CS & Math
Target grad school: OMSCS, or UoTA MOCSO. (Contemplating research)

MAT-301 was originally designed as GRE prep, that's correct.

MAT-303 has UL credit recommendations with NCCRS.

This is perhaps in the eye of the beholder, but I think 303 is easier than 301. It also has a higher average score, for what that's worth.

Did you take both..? Do you know if both 303 and 301 are accepted as UL in TESU?...

I'm a Coopersmith insider, so I have access to both exams, but didn't "take" either one. While I'm not sure offhand what TESU accepts as UL, we just sent TESU a transcript with both on Friday so I'll try to follow up with the student this week and see if they both got accepted as UL.

Thanks @shaas, that' so glad to hear that we've got Coopersmith folks here with us. Would be very keen to find out Smile

I got word back from the School of Business Management at TESU. These are the equivalencies of Coopersmith math courses that they have determined:

CCC # Title TESU Equiv Title
CCCMAT101 College Algebra MAT-121 College Algebra
CCCMAT102 Principles of Statistics STA-201 Principles of Statistics
CCCMAT103 College Geometry MAT-260 Geometry
CCCMAT301 Concepts in Math and Quantitat MAT-303 Quantitative Business Analysis
CCCMAT302 Calculus MAT-231 Calculus I
CCCMAT303 Quantitative Analysis BUS-210 Quantitative Skills
CCCMAT304 Probability and Statistics STA-201 Principles of Statistics
CCCMAT305 Linear Algebra MAT-321 Linear Algebra I

So it seems that Concepts in Math and Linear Algebra would be UL and the rest LL.

I don't get why MAT-102 and MAT-304 don't come in as LL and UL, but it is what it is.
