Hello everyone,
I've combed through the forums looking for information about Coopersmith. It seems to be a recommended provider at times, but I haven't seen anything by anybody who has actually taken courses with them. I'd like to get a sense of what it's like to work with them. Would love to hear from anybody whose successfully completed one or more of their courses. For example:
What was the learning format? Videos? Reading? Something else?
Was there a final exam? (I think the answer is yes.)
Was the final exam proctored? (again, I believe the answer is yes)
Can you share a course syllabus?
Thank you.
BSBA/Accounting TESU (2016). MSA UIUC (2018).
Need help with portfolios? I earned 18 credits at TESU through portfolio evaluations. Nine of those were for upper level accounting courses. My advice for PLA/portfolios: TESU portfolio tips The first post has the Portfolio Checklist I created. Page ten has the actual narrative I wrote to receive credit for ACC-440.
Using Straighterline's Financial Accounting as a substitute for TESU's Intermediate Accounting I? Don't do it if you are an accounting major and/or want your CPA license. They are not the same course and I think TESU has erred in accepting the SL course as Intermediate I. I made this discovery here: Intermediate Accounting II.

Funny, I had an odd fascination with Coopersmith looking for sources of UL credit. The closest thing I could compare them to is a CLEP exam. They provide you with the study materials and it is all self-study followed by a final online proctored exam. For the price and time they look like a good deal so long as your school accepts them for credit. From what I can tell they are a very small or one-man operation with a fairly ingenious setup and course offerings.

There are about a dozen or so random forum posts about them. These are just a few:
Coopersmith
Who has used Coopersmith?
Coopersmith Exam format?
They seem to popup whenever someone needs one or more hard to get UL courses that you cannot get at somewhere like SDC.

I'm another one who took Coopersmith exams on the way to my Bachelor's degree. Yes, they provide something like a PowerPoint deck and a syllabus with recommended texts and topics to study.

Thank you. I see from your signature that you took Trees and Plants of the Torah. This is one of the courses I'm considering. How was it? Did you like the book? I tried to find it and it seems a little obscure.

Eichlers.com has it for $30, Midarkei Hailanos - Trees. If you have read Jewish texts referring to parshot and halakhah, it's a good read. If you don't have any idea what those two terms mean, pay close attention to the syllabus for what pages are required reading, and memorize lists of things like the Seven Species of Israel. PM me for more, and I'll find my notes.
