Coursera Certificates for Upper Level Credits Bachelors of Arts in Liberal Studies?
#1
I couldn't find the answer to a random but good question: Has anyone had success using Coursera certificates to satisfy upper-level requirements at TESU, specifically in the Liberal Studies program? I see some certificates grant 300 & 400 level credits at TESU but can't seem to find any information which ones will be accepted or if they have been accepted at all towards the degree.

The MAN, DSI and CYB classes would not count per my son's advisor.

CIS-3110 Database Management and STAT-3999 count under Liberal Studies Upper Level for the plain BSLA, and they would count under Computer Science if that is your concentration.

If your concentration is Computer Science under the BSLA, CLD-4300 AI, Machine Learning, and Big Data in the Cloud and CLD-4200 Architecting Cloud Solutions would also count under Liberal Studies - Computer Science Electives, but not sure under the plain BSLA.

I am surprised they didn't accept MAN, DSI, or CYB courses. Did they provide a reason? Because I do see they are recommended for college credits.

The courses need to meet the area of liberal studies and the ones from these certificates in those suffixes do not. The other courses in MAN/DSI/CYB from Coursera would slide into electives or could be usable for undergraduate certificates. They do accept some courses from other providers in the liberal arts, such as the business communication and psychology related courses from study:

https://degreeforum.miraheze.org/wiki/Sa...egree_Plan
Business 323: Organizational Theory Study.com (PSY-360 Organizational Theory)
Business 324: Managerial Communication Study.com Managerial Communication (MAN-3730)
Business 305: Leadership Communication Study.com Leadership Communication (MAN-3760)

My son used the UL project management courses in the organizational leadership and ops management certificates.

CYD, DSI, MAN, etc classes are too applied in nature, either professional or technical and would not be classified under liberal arts or sciences... These can be used towards the BS, or BSBA degrees though, (and the BS that were previously known as BSAST) or the BALS without a concentration.

The MAN classes mentioned earlier by a senior member are general arts/science classes as per their website, such as the corresponding class for Organizational Behavior, as that's more Psychology in nature than Business. For more examples, you can review their website Link: https://www.tesu.edu/degrees-programs/co...-after.php
