College expectations

Algebra is about to start.  Did you turn in those missing assignments yet??”  This is pretty much what I do for work.  I use my Windows calendar to remind me to do certain things that I want to do on a regular schedule.

Have you spoken with his new school about making accommodations for him? remind them about ADA accommodations - it's the law!  I, too, struggle with ADHD. I honestly have no idea where yesterday went. My to do list turned into my I'll do it in 5 minutes list.....I get distracted VERY easily. I discovered last year that I do better with staying on track and completing tasks if I don't have any background noise - no music, no tv, no YouTube, no noise at all. Even traffic noise will distract me! UGH

Something that I've been trying is to set up a calendar with tasks broken down into timed blocks and giving myself a long break after each task. Say I'm going to read a chapter in my textbook for 30 minutes, then I take a 15 minute break doing something else. My calendar will pop up on my screen when it's time to go back to my reading for the next 30 minutes. There are still times I wander off, but I do better using this method. Some days are good days and some days are just complete and utter crap. I've also been finding that the weather can have a severe impact on how well I do, too. I never paid much attention until the last few months and have been really surprised how the lack of sun makes my brain just melt. So when we have 2-3 rainy days in a row, I'm completely useless. It's SOOOOO annoying!

Does he like Post It notes? They work well for some of us too.
