DSST / DANTES Civil War & Reconstruction
#11
The South Carolina State Museum in Columbia has a new exhibit in recognition of the sesquicentennial (150 years) of the start of the Civil War. If you live in the area or at least in the state and are needing to take the DSST Civil War & Reconstruction test, this might be a nice field trip for you. If you are trying to cut expenses, as most of us are these days, the first Sunday of every month is only a $1.00 admission price. Also, the Confederate Relic Room and Military Museum is housed in the same building. This smaller museum is specifically geared toward South Carolinians and how they have participated in or been apart of all the wars that the United States has taken a part in. If you want to visit both museums, their is a discount joint price of $9.00 per person. I have included their websites if anyone is interested

P.S: The SC State Museum and the Confederate Relic Room & Military Museum is housed in a historic building all its own. The old Columbia Mills building, where these museums are located in, was the first electric textile mill in the world. That's one of those useless facts that you'll probably never need to know or care about to look at again, but since I live in and was born in this state, I find it kind of interesting. Enjoy the research.

I passed by the skin of my teeth, 47/47, but a pass is a pass and I'll take it! The flashcards were right on target for this one. If you only have IC, it will probably be all you need! But be sure to pay attention to the descriptions at the bottom of the flashcards. I went in to the test not remembering a lot about what was in the descriptions and I couldn't remember the specifics of all the battles. I probably would have scored much higher if I had crammed that info into my brain, but I was under a deadline so I had to give it a shot. The shot in the dark worked. Also, there are 112 questions on this test so be prepared to spend roughly about 1 1/2 hours taking this exam. Most of the questions were straight forward, but there were a few that were worded tricky so be sure to take your time and read every question. Mark for review what you don't understand or don't know right off and go back to them. This was my strategy and it worked! Thanks for all who helped!
