Prin of Stats exam is $45 + proctor fee.
If you don't pass, you can retake it after a 1 month waiting period for another $45 + proctor fee.
Not a great deal, Saylor has it for $25.

Oh yeah, I remember getting an email in regards to this as well. Forgot about it as I was busy that day. For those who already have a membership for StraighterLine or Study.com, it may be about the same price.
I would suggest taking SL or Study.com vs Davar or Saylor as there is a "greater" chance of a pass as the exam is weighted at 30-33% at SL/Study vs the entire grade is weighted on one exam at Davar/Saylor.

Totally depends on the person. If you think you can pass, then an exam is a good choice, and can be cheap.
I would only ever advise a course if you really needed it, or if it was cheaper than the exam. Why take a course if you don't need to?
That's like saying everyone should take Principles of Management at Study.com or SL instead of attempting the Saylor or CLEP exams. Yeah, if you need to, you should - but if you think you can pass an exam, you should give it a shot (I took and passed the CLEP without giving it 5 minutes study because I already knew a lot of the material from previous courses I'd taken in college years ago).
