I appreciate your input. The catalog does not list which specific science classes qualify for the GEC requirement. My brother completed Sophia Human Biology and lab which was accepted. Sophia Chemistry was initially accepted at UMPI and then at UMF. After the 4th revision to the DPR involving numerous corrections, Jessica said the Chemistry was no longer acceptable. It is still listed as accepted on Sophia's UMPI webpage.

In response to his email, which included his student ID number, my brother was offered support, including tutoring, through two diiferent offices and an invitation for him to come in to meet them. When my brother responded that he would be honored to meet them but was an out of state, online student; all communication ceased. My impression is that UMF is not yet equipped to support online students. Hopefully, that will change.

My brother has been extremely patient. He has jumped through unnecessary hoops for months, first at UMPI, then at UMF. We understand the online BAIS - PP is less than a year old.

Sophia's page is often out of date. The catalog is written for courses at UMF not ACE transfer credit. It does say students need 2 sciences nad a science lab. UMF is assuming that students will take the courses there not on Sophia. Did he ask Jessica if another science course from Sophia would be acceptable? Back in May UMPI made changes to what they accept from Sophia and how courses are transferred in.

Being an online student anywhere you kind of have to learn to fend for yourself and really become your own advocate. It can be difficult because you don't know who to contact sometimes. Transferring ACE credits is difficult at most colleges in my experience. UMPI has been extremely accommodating with ACE courses. I wouldn't be surprised to see them accept fewer Sophia and Study courses in the future. Several of the courses on Sophia just didn't line up with what you learn at UMPI so I wasn't really surprised to see the changes in May. I say this because I did repeat a class at UMPi from Sophia and the 2 classes had nothing in common.
