I forgot to update everyone. I sent Align Degree a message telling them I'm willing to pay for the credits if that's what it takes.

They wrote back:

to me
Hi. You don't need to pay. I will try to get that all set by next Friday. Sorry for the delay.

Sincerely,

Steve Clugston

Assuming he meant next Friday as in January 22nd, I'm curious to see if this will be the case. I waited until now to respond to him to thank him for his time, in hopes it may remind him if he has forgotten already. ;-)

Disaster, indeed!

Still no credits and no response.

At this point, I think it's safe to say this is a scam... a free scam, but scam nonetheless. Smile

Wow!

A bit disheartening to hear this didn't pan out. It sounded almost too good to be true.

I was just looking at LowCostGenEd.com, which is the same Align Degree Services courses as DreamDegree, but you actually pay for them. They previously had 18 courses, they are now down to 13. They used to charge $299/course, they now charge $399. And, all of their remaining courses expire on ACE on 9/30/16.

So then I went to DreamDegree.org to see what was up with them, to see if the same changes applied. And lo and behold, you are redirected to SignificantTechnology.org, and DreamDegree no longer exists in it's old form. Instead, they are a mobile platform, and you can learn or study for...well, I'm not really sure what. I downloaded the app, but can't log in, I think you have to contact them to set up a beta account. There is no real info on the website or app about what courses you can study for.

And, even if you wanted to go ahead and use them for a few Humanities courses that don't exist elsewhere, they are now more expensive than any other course provider I know of.

I think they are having ISSUES with their business model!!!

Ouch, that sounds bad... hmm, I think even without the Kaplan PLA course, you can get 30-60 credits really cheap with what's available.
It's the other 60 (mainly the AOS) and capstone/cornerstone that's expensive. Hope there are more "cheap" upper level courses somewhere.

I don't think any of these were UL.

Between the free courses, Saylor, Aleks, and FEMA you can get around 100 credits for say $700. You will have to complete general education and a major from other resources. FEMA only works at COSC.
