It shouldn't duplicate. But who knows how each school will feel about it.

JCH's (user of this forum) theory is that this is a specific course for Strayer University. Sophia is general courses provider but they also own its own University (or Strayer owns Sophia), and also offer exclusive courses for this university.
So this is one theory, the other theory is that this course will be another History course for anyone (no strayer exclusive).
Based on the years the content covers it couldn't be similar to Sophia U.S. History I, but you may also consider that Sophia U.S. History I is a weak course not accepted to transfer by many universities who transfer U.S. History II (COSC for example); so no big surprise if Sophia tries to fix this issue with another U.S. History I course in future.
I do not particularly enjoy history courses, but I hope it is a new course not equivalent to USH 1 or 2
BSBA: 70% completed (84 credits of 120)

I'm pretty sure that this new history course is already live on strayer.sophia.org. However, Sophia won't let me take it because I've already taken their US History I. This new history course appears to be designed to fulfill the Strayer gened history requirement, which expects one combined history course instead of the usual I and II.

As far as I can tell, it's definitely not for Strayer. It might be for Capella, though, since the course names match exactly. We'll just have to wait and see if it gets released to the general public.

It is a near-exact match for the name of Strayer's history requirement. Their HIS110 is listed in the catalog as "U.S. History: Learn from the Past, Prepare for the Future"
I'm not sure why you're convinced it's not for Strayer.

Hmm, maybe I was looking at an old catalog or something. There were only 3: HIS 104, HIS 105, and HIS 300. But now I also see HIS 110 which does match Sophia.

I would have thought this course would have gone live back on the first, but it's not on Sophia's website. I want to read more about it. Hurry up Sophia!

My daughter is enrolled at TESU with a history major. I asked how the Sophia course would transfer and this is the reply.
Quote:That course for Sophia will transfer to TESU as HIS-199. It can be used as a history elective, as long as you complete the area of study with at least 15 credits at the 300/400 levels.
