ECE Nursing
#1
Hi, I'm new to the forums and was wondering if anyone had any experience with the ECE Nursing Exams?

I've recently taken A&I Lit, Sociology, Psychology, Lifespan Psychology, and American History 1 through Clep and Dantes. Now I'm going to start taking the ECE test and was wondering what to expect.

Also how accurate are the "study guides" that Excelsior provides? I've purchased the text books but I'm feeling slightly overwhelmed. A little guidance and a good place to start would help greatly.

Thanks for any help,
Justin.

I have been taking courses for about a year now using EC content guides. I have purchased the suggested books, and made flash cards from the content guides. They are very straight forward and to the point. Some courses have practice exams offered through EC which are very good. These tests are "retired" tests they have used in the past. Good luck!!!

acdspit,

I'm an Army Medic but close enough :-) I would be up for sharing the cost of text books but I'm in Iraq right now so the cost of shipping the books from here and the time that they would take to arrive would really cut into the money that we would be saving oursevles.

As far as the clep tests go, none of them I have taken have been too hard, with the exception of American History 1. Study IC, use the peterson's practice tests. I do all three tests, if I pass the first two I take the third, on the third I google up the answer to every question I don't know just for extra study time.

Rubberduck,

So the study guides they provide are pretty accurate as to what materials will be tested? That was my concern, I'd spend two weeks preparing for that content guide then upon taking the test find out nothing I studied was on there.

I find them to be helpful. I received my Associate Degree 15 years ago through Excelsior (Regents College at the time), and am now working on my BSN. EC study guides and i study smart haven't let me down yet. Sometimes the wording on the exams is a little tricky, but they give plenty of time (3 hrs), so you can usually figure it out. Lots of luck!
