Hey everyone I need some info. From what I understand if you take the Freshman comp w/essay, you need to be enrolled in a school to have the essay part graded? What if you're not enrolled in any school (Will be credit banking with TESC)? Can I not take the test then? How should I do this? Thanks in advance, appreciate the feedback from everyone on here.

You may need to check if you actually need the essay portion. Freshman Composition does not meet the Writing requirement at Excelsior, so I used Freshman Composition for 3 credits in Arts & Sciences and did not have to do the essay portion. You want to make sure you don't waste your time on the essay if it's not required. I would have to assume that you would need to be enrolled in a school to have the essay graded if needed.

Hey thanks for the reply, I know about Excelsior's WRE, but I'm opening a credit bank with TESC only, not going to enroll as of now because of at the moment I just need a certain amount of credits to be placed on a transcript because I am trying to join the NYPD, thanks again though. Can anyone else tell me if I take the Freshman Comp w/essay, will I need to be enrolled with TESC in order to have my essay graded?

If you have credit banking with TESC, contact Carol Smith (testing dpt) and ask her if you pay the $15 scoring fee, would they accept to grade those essays (2essays)?? if she says yes, then contact Clep, pay another extra $10 to Clep and have them send those essays to your proctor, then the proctor has to send your essays back to clep and clep will send them to TESC to be graded. Its a complicated process and it will take a while..
Try English compostion with essay (if you havent taken it already) Its way easier (the process) but the only problem is that Clep grade essays by flipping coin !! I know at least 10 guys who were really strong in English and couldnt pass it.
Besides, Clep refuses to tell you what is your real score in both parts of this test so they keep it really shady, on the other hand I know 2 person who were really weak in English both reading and writing and passed it with no problem.
Even on this forum, if you search, you can find a lot of similar personal experiences so unfortunately It's really graded randomly but you can give it a shot
