English 101 credit
#1
I have done a good deal of searching here trying to figure out which English course offers the best bang for my buck in terms of not being tediously bogged down with busywork, a zillion assignments and cost effective. Want to keep the kiddo interested in online learning, not kill him with a thousand cuts. Am leaning towards Modern States CLEP or TECEP, but not seeing much info on TECEP Eng I. Any feedback is much appreciated.

If it's for COSC or TESU, I would definitely lean towards the TECEPs because RA credit. The syllabus says that it's 3 essays. You are permitted a dictionary and a writing handbook.

Thank you!. We have a Sophia subscription, but the reviews just aren't great and the thousand cuts will turn him off completely. I wish some of these courses were more "fun" I enjoyed writing in college. Writing can be fun and educational at the college level.

If your kid's out of HS, or is close, ONU is another possibility. (You need a HS diploma or GED.) There are a number of assignments but, from what I can tell, you're essentially writing a single essay over the course of the class.

He is still in middle school. Thanks though! We have a Sophia subscription, but the negative reviews outweigh the positive ones. He does need to learn the material though. He wouldn't pass the TECEP cold. Maybe Modern States as a Study guide since its free?

ModernStates should be helpful, yes. I would also suggest ASU but not for credit. There is a lot of useful information in their English courses. So, basically, read the material and watch the videos but don't submit any assignments.
