English Composition -FAILED-

I took today the english composition witout essay and failed.
I studied the last six weeks hard and used the IC flash cards, the princeton review "cracking the clep", the official study guide and "review for the clep" from comex. On all the practice tests I answered more than 85% of the questions right. So I was confident this morning at the test center.
Even after I answered all the questions I had 5 minutes left, so I was sure to pass. When I got my score of 39 I was devastated. I know I did guess on some of the questions but I was sure to pass.
I did not took the essay test because I'm german and I was afraid I would misspell to many words.

Any pointers for my next english composition test!

I'm sorry to hear of your low score, but you can certainly make a comeback.

Although English is my thing, and I enjoy it (unlike math, sciences, etc), I found that Strunk White's "Elements of Style" was a valuable, brief resource. I used the book, but I think the following is a legitimate copy of it in PDF:

I never used InstantCert for this. I think the biggest thing is seeing examples of correct writing vs. incorrect writing, and hearing it in your mind. Once you get used to things, they pop out instantly as you read a sentence. "Elements of Style" has examples to help.

Also, check out the book "Writers Inc." --it's one of my all-time favorites-- and don't forget to look at the specific exam review forum.
