Does anyone know if TESC will give general ed credits for English Composition if you have already taken the Freshman Composition clep? I need to fulfill my freshman english requirement which is only 3 credits (I have the sophomore Engl Comp II fulfilled by a local CC). I'm wondering if I take the Freshman Composition clep, if the additional 3 credits will roll over into general ed. I'm also wondering if I will be able to take English Comp as well to receive an additional 6 credits, or if that will be considered a duplicate since I have sophomore english filled. P.S if this has been covered already in another thread, sorry in advanced. I couldn't find this info via the search. (at least for my particular situation)
I hope that one made sense :-)

There is no Clep Freshman Comp, just Clep College Composition and College Composition Modular - 6 & 3 credits respectively.
However, if you have already taken Clep Freshman Comp from years ago, you will need to have taken the essay portion. I took Clep's Freshman Comp with Essay back in 1999, unfortunately, the transcript did not show that I had taken the essay (it was optional at that time) and TESC wanted the essay that I wrote which wasn't possible (it's kept for 3 yrs max), so I had to take College Composition.
That was my experience.

If they give you credit for a course, whether you take it through them or transfer it in or test out of it via CLEP, you can't get credit for the same type of course twice.
Take a look at the
course equivalencies PDF. If you want to take two tests and they both correlate to the same class you will waste your time and money. Ain't gonna happen no way no how.
PS I spent a lot of time studying English to make that last sentence happen.
