New member here so let me explain my background.
I attended UCSC for two years pursuing a Computer Science degree then I decided that the field really wasn't for me so I dropped out and joined the military. I those two years I managed to complete all my gen eds and get quite a few core classes for my major done.
After I dropped out I joined the Marine Corps and they sent me to learn Chinese at the Defense Language Institute. In combination with some of my gen eds from UCSC and a CLEP test I earned an AA in Chinese from them when I graduated.
After that I was sent to an Air Force cryptologic linguist course that is worth 21 credits.
In total I have transcripts at 3 different schools, CCAF, DLI, and UCSC and a SMART transcript. All of this credit is being put toward my bachelors. Currently, I'm enrolled at Excelsior College, and just about finished with a BS in Liberal Arts. In total, I have around 140 credits earned so far. All I have left is the Management Information Systems DSST to round out a depth requirement and that silly Information Literacy course so I should be finished within a month, very excite!
After I'm finished I would like to pursue a MA in Linguistics or Second Language Acquisition at University of Hawaii, really thats my ultimate goal in all this, the bachelors is just a stepping stone. My question is with all of these transcripts and degrees coming from different schools would it be better to go for the credit bank thing? Could anyone who has used it explain how it works? Does credit show up as coming from Excelsior College, or does it list where the credit came from? I ask this because DLI is a prestigious school in the linguistic community and in terms of getting accepted for grad school, I think their seal of approval would help. Any insights? Thanks for the help and I must say this is an awesome little community you guys have created here.
