So she is saying that you need 3 credits of Humanities AND 3 of Social Science, correct? Not 6 total of Social Science OR Humanities?
You might ask her (very politely) if the 6 credit A&I Lit would complete that requirement.
In the meantime, Straighterline Intro to Sociology should be very easy for you to complete. There's also Shmoop Modern European History or American History I and II; those are unproctored.

No go on the A&I Lit. She stated only certain courses can be social science credits. No reply back yet on the alternative online courses. I will hopefully complete this DSST on Friday. Wish me luck as I am not doing so well currently. I can't believe I missed Intro Sociology by 1 point. I passed all my other CLEPs with no studying involved and I guess I was hoping too much on that. I am going to spend a day on fundamentals of counseling.

Just learned something interesting...
https://clep.collegeboard.org/school-policy-search# West Virginia Northern Community College accepts CLEPs at a lower score. A score of 47 is awarded 3 credits for Intro Sociology. PRAISE THE HEAVENS. I will notify them of this immediately to see where I stand.

Sorry for reviving an old thread, but I am here to update everyone. I completed my capstone course through Excelsior College and finally obtained my Associate in Applied Science - Technical Studies (with a concentration in Electronic/Instrumentation Technologies) with a 3.78 GPA. I will be going for my bachelors degree next and trying to obtain that eluded Board of Governor's AAS just for fun. Thank you for all the support on this forum that made it possible for me to achieve this goal.

Good work in completing that elusive AAS from Excelsior, and that's not too old of a thread, so don't be sorry for anything... BTW, are you going to go for a Bachelors at Excelsior or another college? If so, I recommend using your current credits and also your upcoming credits to get another Associates elsewhere instead of a BOG AAS.
If you're staying at Excelsior and getting a Bachelors of something, stagger your courses properly so you can get another Associates en route to a Bachelors program. The reason I am telling you this is, for the BOG AAS, one of the requirements is that the applicant can not have a degree already. I emailed all 9 WV colleges and reviewed their website, since there is no fee involved, you can try Pierpont and WVNCC as their website doesn't specifically say, but for several of them, it does...
This is what I have been advising people to do if they would like an Associates en route to a Bachelors, that is to plan carefully. For example, someone going for a BALS with no concentration would be able to pick up an AA and an AAS after taking the same courses towards their BALS. The general education requirements for first 30 credits would be the same, the 30 credits that you have for your AAS would be used forward as well for the Free Electives section. You'll just need to take up the remainder of the courses for the BALS. You'll end up with an AA to BALS in addition to your AAS.
It's a little complex, but I've typed that reply into many posts before. If you need help or want more info, you can PM me or update this thread. I can assist you further in that planning, and you should use Excelsior's resources for planning that Bachelors as well, good luck!

bjcheung77 - Thank you for your kind response. I feel blessed to have finally obtained the AAS. I am currently utilizing my military Tuition Assistance to take three more classes, of which SOC101 is one of them, and use those credits to obtain a BOG AAS. Hopefully they don't investigate me so I can bypass that policy that states if the applicant does not have a degree yet. After that, I plan to separate from the U.S. Navy in December and go pursue my Bachelor in Computer Engineering at Temple University using my G.I. Bill.
Life Long Learning - I found it interesting. It was 8 weeks of discussions and drafts to put together the final paper. You use your experience in the field of your degree. I have accomplished a lot in the military and I felt it was pretty easy to come up with stuff to submit. Hopefully, that answers your question.

That does!
My Excelsior HEM-498 Capstone requires 4 papers (5-7 pages) and 16 Discussions (250+ words)/reply's (100+ words). My experience in the field helped with all of them. I am in week 3.
How many discussions in the E

My capstone was only for completion of an Associates so I only had 8 discussions, 8 drafts + final draft submissions every week after the first, and the final paper (combination of the drafts with some editing). I still have my typed-up coursework saved on my hard drive. I would post the final paper but I am not sure if I am allowed to do so.
