TESU general education electives question, academic eval

Login to myEdison Portal, click ACADEMIC PROFILE, and then click the Academic Evaluation link. Then where it says "What if I changed my program of study" click the dropdown box and choose whatever program you want and then click the "SUBMIT" button.

Hoping someone might be able to assist me.

Just received my academic evaluation from TESU and they are not using 16 credits. I was hoping they would use these towards the general education electives.

Program: Associate in Arts

Has anyone had any luck counting any of these towards general education electives and if so, what is the best way to appeal?

Unfortunately, at TESU they have "Electives" listed on their AA in Gen Studies, when they should have listed as "General Education Electives", which is different than "Free Electives" (which can be almost anything). All of the above courses are free electives. Business courses are always free electives unless you are a business major. Same with Fire stuff, if you're not a degree related to that. CAP, FEL, BUE are always free electives.

They really do need to be more clear in their wording on these degree plans.

I have an ACE transcript they received on 3/22 as well that they still haven't got to.

Having taken Academic Strategies at Patten, I can say it is nothing like the PLA course. If anything, it's more like what I suspect TESU's new Cornerstone to be.

Patten's Academic Strategies is a lot like Straighterline's Student Success class. I took it and it was helpful. It's really all about helping you learn how to set goals, be organized, etc. I would say that sounds about right for a cornerstone class. The PLA class helps you learn how to look at your learning outside the classroom and apply it to a portfolio.
