A couple of things:
1> If you don't have to go to NYC, then you definitely shouldn't limit yourself to that location. As other members have mentioned, some testing centers are a lot more flexible than others; they'll let you test 5-6 days a week, and some will even let you schedule the day before the test. I don't know if any of the ones in NYC are that flexible...
2> Dantes exams will have to be scheduled in advance (usually around 2 weeks) so that the testing center can order them and receive them in the mail. If you're only going to be in the U.S. for a week or two, then you should definitely order all of those tests before you fly over.
Strayer University has testing centers all over the U.S.. The couple I've had experience with were very flexible with testing times and scheduling, so you may want to look into that. Atlanta, GA has two Strayer testing centers.
