PR does expire oddly enough (you need to renew) and you know when it will expire. Canada is cracking down on immigration since their experiment has largely failed and even the Liberal Party of Canada has had enough. Thus people try to find ways to stick around.
Tons of YT videos on it.

I'm aware that it expires but I don't understand why OP is trying to get points, which is immigration. OP stated they were a Permanent Resident so wouldn't the proper procedure be to renew Canadian PR card? (PR card needs to be renewed every 5 years)
"An expired PR card does not mean you lose your status as a permanent resident of Canada, even if you are outside of Canada. Your PR status is granted by law and is not tied directly to the validity of your PR card." (
https://dfimmigration.ca/2024/07/15/expi...d-to-know/)
From the official website of the Government of Canada:
"Eligibility
To be eligible for a PR card, you need to
...
You should
only apply for a PR card if:
- your card has expired or will expire in less than 9 months
- your card is lost, stolen or destroyed and you want to replace it
- you didn’t receive your card within 180 days of immigrating to Canada
- you need to update your card to
- legally change your name
- change your citizenship
- change your gender designation
- correct your date of birth
...
You
aren’t eligible for a PR card if you were asked by the Government of Canada to leave the country. If you are a
Canadian citizen, you can’t have (and don’t need) a PR card. If you become a Canadian citizen, give us your PR card at your
citizenship ceremony." (
https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-ref...apply.html)
Other than that, I know you can get kicked out for not being in the country long enough during those 5 years. I'm not an immigration expert, but the norm can't be requiring a new masters degree so you can immigrate back into the country every 5 years. Another site with more information:

I agree, the situation is odd. I think there is more to the story here. Especially with the last minute effort.

And... That's the reason I have a post #6, original poster isn't providing enough information for people to help them, especially when they're in a rush, they should have more details so we can at least point them to the right people (immigration lawyers) or something along those lines... Without more info, it's a guessing game (not an educated guess...)
