But, you have to go in with a lot of research already completed and published, and that takes a while. According to that webpage, they're expecting about three years' worth of research.

With a HUGE caveat. One must have already accumulated years of published research and it must be amenable to being bundled into a thematic dissertation. It is the end of the doctoral journey, not the beginning.
