An instructor who teaches PhD students with one of the big name newer online colleges told me its all about the money. As long as B&M colleges still get 30 SH ($$$) from the student they will not become like the Big 3. Its not about the education its about the money. I think more colleges are liking CLEP as long as it comes out of the 75% that one can transfer in and not their pie.

I believe Straighterline has over 100 partner colleges now. When I started college in 2005, there weren't nearly as many online programs and close to zero competency-based programs. In 2010, there weren't very many options for earning ACE and NCCRS credits for the average adult learner. Most of the evaluated credits were from employers or organizations with ground programs. Only accepting 30 alternative sources of credit toward a 4-year degree is about the norm and has been for many years.
